Rohit Sharma born on 30th April 1987 is an Indian right-handed batsman in cricket. He also does right-arm off break bowling occasionally. He is one of the most promising and most skilled batsmen in Indian cricket history. While batting, he is calm and composed. He has an exceptional batting skill.
In 1999, he played cricket for Swami Vivekanand International School. At the mere age of 16, he started his domestic career and for Deodhar trophy, he became a part of the List A cricket team. He made an impressive score of 142 runs in 123 balls in the first match of the Deodhar Trophy Tournament. He joined the National Indian Cricket team at the age of 20 years. In 2007, he played his debut match against Ireland.
At the start of his career as a professional cricketer, Sharma was a middle order batsman but due to his incredible talent and rigorous practice, he is now the opening batsman of team India. At the 2007 T20 World Cup, he did his first international batting and contributed to India’s win over the South African team in the tournament by scoring a half century. In the same tournament, Sharma won the title of Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the semi-finals. In 2008, he played for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL (Indian Premiere League). He was also the captain of the Mumbai Indians team in the recent IPL season. He is the fastest Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in ODIs versus Australia in 19 innings, breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar who had scored the same runs in 20 innings. He is the third Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in T20 innings.

He is also the second batsman of India to score most half centuries in T20 innings. He became the highest scoring individual cricketer who scored 264 runs in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2014. He also won the best T20 batting performance award from ESPN Cricinfo for his maiden century against South Africa in T20 innings. Sharma is the only player who has hit two double centuries in ODIs. He received the Best ODI Batting Performance award, consequently, in 2013 and 2014 from ESPN Cricinfo for his two-time double hundreds in ODIs. In an inning, Sharma scored 186 runs by boundaries and made a new record in cricket history for most runs from boundaries and sixes, breaking the previous record of Shane Watson.
